Shatavari is a member of the Liliaceae family, which includes ornamental plants like lilies and tulips, as well as herbs and vegetables, such as aloe vera, garlic, onion and asparagus. In fact, this native to the Indian subcontinent is also known as Indian Asparagus. In Ayurveda, it is an important adaptogenic and general tonic herb with a very long history of use. Its name translates from Sanskrit to “who possesses a hundred husbands or acceptable to many" or simply "100 spouses," in reference to its reputation for enhancing fertility and vitality.
